Biography

Kenzie Smith was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. Although his career is centered around music performance and composition, he also earned a dual degree in Business Administration and Japanese. In addition to his musical pursuits, Kenzie is actively involved in the funeral industry, learning the profession with the goal of becoming a licensed funeral director. He currently resides just outside Portland with his wife and daughter.

Kenzie was first introduced to the piano at age twelve, when he received a small digital keyboard on Christmas morning. He soon began lessons alongside his two older brothers, studying under a close family friend. After two years, however, his interest in piano faded and he stepped away from formal lessons.

Everything changed the day he heard a striking arrangement of Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel on the radio. The piece reignited his passion for music, and Kenzie began teaching himself to play the works that inspired him. Following weekly church activities, he could often be found at the grand piano in the chapel, where his playing echoed throughout the building. One evening, the local Bishop overheard his performance of Canon in D and invited him to provide music for Sunday services. Despite limited experience in sight-reading, Kenzie accepted and has continued to play for church services every week since, now performing on both the piano and the pipe organ.

While in college, Kenzie recorded and uploaded a piano performance of Ichiban no Takaramono (from Angel Beats!) to YouTube. Without realizing it at the time, this marked the beginning of his music career. His channel slowly gained a dedicated following as he uploaded more arrangements from anime and visual novels.

After about a year of consistent YouTube uploads, Kenzie released his first album, Anime Music Collection Piano Solo, Vol. 1, in 2015. He has since published numerous albums across major platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music, primarily featuring his anime piano arrangements, with occasional tributes to Disney films and video game soundtracks.

Kenzie’s work has been featured widely by content creators and fans alike. One of his most popular tracks, Guilty Crown – Krone, was showcased during Music on Ice 2017 in a performance by Daisuke Takahashi—Olympic medalist and five-time Japanese national champion.

  1. Thank you so much for sharing your music on this website. I, like you am an avid musician, a pianist. It is sometimes so hard to find sheet music for the music you love. I heard your arrangement of Dango Daikazoku and I loved it. I couldn’t find it anywhere but thanks to your spotify account I’m here. I will be sharing your music. Once again, thank you for what you do.
